This was created for my BIL as a fun joke/gag holiday gift. It is a countdown clock to his retirement that includes a "mini-game" of sorts. The game features Joe, my BIL stranded on a relaxing island. The mini game allows the user to control Joe and collect shells and coconuts. In the lower right, there are controls for: camera control, character control (Joe), and chat (you can talk to Joe and ask him questions or tell him things). Joe is fully aware he lives on this island and some other characteristics. Fun facts about the app: 1. The app utilizes geolocation to track the sunrise/sunset of the end-users device. If the sun is set, then the night time scene loads - stars, the campfire is lit, etc. 2. The app utilizes openweather to track the moon phase and loads the correct moon phase based off of geolocation if it is night time for the end-user. 3. Various random events are programmed currently (more will be in the future) such as: • Fireworks at night time on New Years Eve night and the month of July nights. • Messages in a bottle spawn in January in select date ranges which when picked up are read and are messages sent from myself to Joe. • During holiday season, lights are on the trees and glow at night/light up when it is night time. • Joe sleeps on the hammock at night between certain times. 4. Coconuts are spawned and fall of the trees randomly 5. Shells spawn once per month currently and are different each month. 6. Majority of the sprites/graphics were "drawn" by myself utilizing piskel. Joe was created off of an actual photograph of himself. 7. This app is completely serverless and utilizes functions, apis, and nosql db for functionality. More functionality will be added most likely in the future, maybe a chest for tracking shells and some reward system/purchasing of things etc. Note: API endpoints are open and not locked down (wasn't concerned about them as this was just a fun little gift I created etc). Also some times the geo location interrupts loa
